Having abandoned the mind of self-power to perform various practices and miscellaneous acts,
I have entrusted myself to Amida Tathagata with singleness of heart recognizing that He has resolved my crucial after-life problem once and for all.I understand that at the moment such entrusting Faith arises in me,
my deliverance from Samsara is settled with the assurance of birth in the Pure Land,
and joyfully accept that recitation of the Nembutsu which follows is to express my indebtedness to Amida.How grateful I am that I have come to this understanding through the benevolence of the Founder,
Shinran Shonin, who appeared in this country and of the masters of the succeeding generations who have guided me with deep compassion!From now on, I will abide by the rules of conduct all my life.”
【The Golden Chain】
I am a link in Amida's golden chain of love that stretches around the world.
I will keep my link bright and strong.May I be kind and gentle to every living thing and protect all who are weaker than myself.
May I think pure and beautiful thoughts, say pure and beautiful words, and do pure and beautiful deeds.
May every link in Amida's golden chain of love be bright and strong,
and may we all attain perfect peace.【Shinran's Words】
- Reverently Entrusting myself to the teaching, practice, and realization that are the true essence of the Pure Land way, I am especially aware of the profundity of the Tathāgata's benevolence. Here I rejoice in what I have heard and extol what I have receive.
- How joyous I am, my heart and mind being rooted in the Buddha-ground of the universal Vow, and my thoughts and feelings flowing within the Dharma-ocean, which is beyond comprehension! I am deeply aware of Tathāgata's immense compassion, and I sincerely revere the benevolent care behind the master's teaching activity.

The radiant light, unhindered and inconceivable, eradicates suffering and brings realization of joy; the excellent Name, perfectly embodying all practices, eliminates obstacles and dispels doubt. This is the teaching and practice for our era; devote yourself solely to it.

When on board the ship of the great compassionate Vow, let pure shinjin be the favorable wind, and in the dark night of ignorance, let the jewel of virtue be a great torch. Those whose minds are dark and whose understanding is deficient, endeavor in this way with reverence! Those whose evils are heavy and whose karmic obstructions are many, deeply revere this shinjin!

When, through Amida's directing of virtue to them by the power of the Vow, the foolish beings ever floundering in birth-and -death hear the true and real virtues and realize supreme shinjin, they immediately atain great joy and reach the stage of non-retrogression, so that without being made to sunder their blind passions, they are brought quickly to the realization of great nirvāna.

Entrusting in the Vow of the Buddha,
Calling out the Buddha's Name,
I will pass through the journey of life with strenght and joy.Revering the Light of the Buddha,
Reflecting upon my imperfect self,
I will trive to live a life of gratitude.Following the Teachings of the Buddha,
Dscerning the Right Path,
I will share the True Dharma with all.Rejoicing in the Compassion of the Buddha,
Respecting and aiding all sentient beings,
I will work towards the welfare of society and the world.【Three Treasures】
Leader:
How rare and wondrous it is to have been born into human life, and now I live it.
How rare and wondrous it is to be able to listen to the Buddha-Dharma, and now I am able to hear it.
If I do not transcend the world of delusion in this life, when will I ever attain spiritual liberation?
May I, along with the entire Sangha, with sincere heart and mind, rely on that which can be truly relied on in life - the Three Treasures.All:
I rely on the Buddha.
May I, along with all sentient beings, awaken to the Great Path with my entire being and discover the highest aspiration, which is to become a Buddha.I rely on the Dharma.
May I, along with all sentient beings, deeply reflect on the meaning of the sutras and gain wisdom that is as deep and vast as the ocean.I rely on the Sangha.
May I, along with all sentient beings, become one Sangha of life, able to move forward and live with a dynamic spirit that is hindered by nothing.Leader:
The unsurpassed, deep, and wondrous Dharma, even in millions of kalpas, is extremely difficult to encounter, but now I am able to experience and embrace it.
May I come to understand and revere the true meaning of the Tathagata.【Four Noble Truths】
Leader: All: Duhkha - Difficulty Dissatisfaction comes from not living in accord with the truth of impermanence and interdependence. Samudāya - Arising The delusion of self-importance, expressed through greed and anger, is the cause of duhkha. Nirodha - Cessation The transformation of greed, anger, and delusion is the cure for duhkha. Mārga - Path Śākyamuni Buddha taught the Eightfold Path as medicine for putting an end to duhkha. 【Six Pāramitās】
Leader: All: Dāna - Giving May I be generous and helpful. Śīla - Guidance May I be guided by the Buddhist precepts. Ksānti - Tolerance May I regard the mistakes of others with sympathy. So long as a man cannot control his own mind, how can he get any satisfaction from thinking such thoughts as, "This is my son" or "This is my treasure"?
