  1. 【Ryogemon】

Having abandoned the mind of self-power to perform various practices and miscellaneous acts,
I have entrusted myself to Amida Tathagata with singleness of heart recognizing that He has resolved my crucial after-life problem once and for all.

I understand that at the moment such entrusting Faith arises in me,
my deliverance from Samsara is settled with the assurance of birth in the Pure Land,
and joyfully accept that recitation of the Nembutsu which follows is to express my indebtedness to Amida.

How grateful I am that I have come to this understanding through the benevolence of the Founder,
Shinran Shonin, who appeared in this country and of the masters of the succeeding generations who have guided me with deep compassion!

From now on, I will abide by the rules of conduct all my life.”

  2. 【The Golden Chain】

I am a link in Amida's golden chain of love that stretches around the world.
I will keep my link bright and strong.

May I be kind and gentle to every living thing and protect all who are weaker than myself.

May I think pure and beautiful thoughts, say pure and beautiful words, and do pure and beautiful deeds.

May every link in Amida's golden chain of love be bright and strong,
and may we all attain perfect peace.

    3. How joyous I am, my heart and mind being rooted in the Buddha-ground of the universal Vow, and my thoughts and feelings flowing within the Dharma-ocean, which is beyond comprehension! 4. The radiant light, unhindered and inconceivable, eradicates suffering and brings realization of joy; the excellent Name, perfectly embodying all practices, eliminates obstacles and dispels doubt. This is the teaching and practice for our era; devote yourself solely to it.

    Leader:

How rare and wondrous it is to have been born into human life, and now I live it.
How rare and wondrous it is to be able to listen to the Buddha-Dharma, and now I am able to hear it.
If I do not transcend the world of delusion in this life, when will I ever attain spiritual liberation?
May I, along with the entire Sangha, with sincere heart and mind, rely on that which can be truly relied on in life - the Three Treasures.

    All:

  8. 【Selected Sayings】

    1. "He abused me, he laughed at me, he struck me. " Thus one thinks, and so long as one retains such thoughts, one's anger continues. Anger will never disappear so long as there are thoughts of resentment in the mind. Anger will disappear just as soon as thoughts of resentment are forgotten.

      -- Dhammapada

    2. To be foolish and to recognize that one is a fool, is better than to be foolish and imagine that one is wise.
So long as a man cannot control his own mind, how can he get any satisfaction from thinking such thoughts as, "This is my son" or "This is my treasure"?
A foolish man suffers from such thoughts.
      -- Dhammapada

    3. Happiness follows sorrow, sorrow follows happiness, but when one no longer discriminates between happiness and sorrow, a good deed and a bad deed, one is able to realize freedom.
      -- Dhammapada
